Model: Glimåkra Standard (branded “AB Gunnar Andersson Vävskedsfabrik” — the company that later became Glimåkra)
Width: 160 cm
Shafts: 10‑shaft loom
Original purchase: Bought from George Weil (receipts included in photos)
Price: £1,250 ono
My mum bought this Glimåkra Standard loom new in 2001, and after many years of gentle, on‑and‑off use she’s decided she no longer wants to weave large rugs. She’s asked me (her son) to help with the sale, so I’m posting this on her behalf.
Overall the loom is in very good condition. There are signs of use: a few marks, some small water stains that may polish out, and a number of lighter patches where tape had been on the wood for years and the surrounding timber has faded. Nothing structural or serious. The only damage worth noting is a slight bend at one end of one of the two metal reeds; this happened during carriage at some point. I’ve included close‑ups so you can see exactly what it looks like.
The loom is currently in Cuddesdon, Oxford. Viewing welcome. Collection from there is preferred. Alternatively, I can dismantle it and bring it to London N16 for collection from our place. This would be quite a bit of work so is not ideal, but can be done if needed.
Hello,
I’m a recent textiles graduate and London UK-based weaver currently looking for a loom. I have a small studio space ready and had arranged to buy one, but sadly the sale fell through at the last minute.
I’m ideally hoping to find an 8-shaft floor loom, particularly a Schacht loom, and something relatively compact. In terms of size, a 36” weaving width would be wonderful, though I’d also be very happy with a 26” loom. I’m especially drawn to a Mighty Wolf or Baby Wolf floor loom, though I’m very open to other suitable options.
I’ve previously worked with Ashford, Leclerc and Schacht looms and am very comfortable with setup, maintenance and care.
I’m at the early stage of building my practice, so my budget is unfortunately limited, but the loom would be used with great care and real intention. If anyone knows of a loom looking for a new home, I would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.
Thank you so much for reading,
Alia
